Stainless Steel Fabrication

The stainless steel fabrication is the process of bending and shaping sheet metal.  With modern technology stainless steel can be given a variety of different shapes and forms.  In order for you to shape different sections of the steel, you will need to use different pieces of equipment that will range for complicated power tools to the basic hand tools that are available.

If you are going to start a new fabrication job it will usually begin with the basic actions of slitting or perforating tools that work to perform the specific shearing action.  The types of machines that can be used will either be operated machines like bench shears or they can be a simple hand scissor for thin steel that is light in weight.

The different kinds of power driven shearing machines will compromise the different fixed and movable blades that are attached.  The punching machine is a useful tool that is designed to punch out or piece a specific hole in the sheet metal system.

The shaping process of the sheet metal is carried out and also known as bending or folding.  The processes of this operation can include the crimping, bending, grooving, seaming and even stamping.  The majority of the functions of these operations are designed to help stiffen and shape the stainless steel sheet into specific design.

These different machines don’t only work with linear designs. You can use a lot of these processes to help create tubular and circular shapes.  The sectioning and angles of the sheet metal can be formed by the folding and bending process.

Another process that is commonly used is the coiling.  The coiling works to produce a specific coiled edge on the end of the sheet metal component.  The coiling works to help strengthen the edge of the article.  Shapes that are cylindrical or circular tubes are made through the roll-forming machines that are available.

There are a number of different techniques that are used in the stainless steel fabrication process.  These different techniques will include such things has spinning, cupping, embossing, deep drawing and flow forming.  You will find that the current process is mostly produced with the aid of computer controlled machinery.

Due to the rapid advancement in stainless steel fabrication, the designs and shapes have become extremely technical.  No longer is it possible to build some of the shapes with the old manual methods.  Complicated machinery has allowed people to punch designs into a machine and have everything automated.
